Truer words have never been spoken than those. Some of the best music is released in the form of mixtapes. We got Khalifas "Kush and OJ", then we have Curren$y's "Smokee Robinson."

Next developement to my music game would have to be Mac Miller. This freshman (almost literally, he is only 18 and just barely graduated highschool) has flow. For his age Miller displays traits of a more then experienced rapper. His mixtape "K.I.D.S." is in fewer words, fucking awesome. Miller samples from the recently popular Empire of the Sun just like his older brother Wiz does on his mixtape.

He is featured on mulitple mixtapes, including XXL's 10 freshman for 2010' list.

Keep an eye out for him, he will be blowin' up.

Let's catch back up with this. Homework blows, but the next post I want to talk about fashion. Before you ask yourself, yes I' am straight. What's wrong with a guy being fresh?

One company you need to get on is The Hundreds. Started a few years back, The Hundreds is the epoitome of California lifestyle. The amazing graphics they use in their apparel is not easily copied. Not only that but who could hate a logo as dope as theirs?

I found out about them almost two years ago while attending a Kid Cudi concert in SF. Most of the rappers were rockin' The Hundreds and I had to get on it. They now make lines of denim, shoes, and also a very in depth cut and sew line.

If you live in California and you expect to have one stitch of freshness you need to cop The Hundreds. make it a staple in your outerwear and you'll have chicks banging down your door. Maybe not that drastic but you get it?

Just check them out even though it may break your wallet a bit.

One you haven't heard of for sure.

It's Sunday night and I would raher delay that mountain of homework I have with this update. Music > Homework anyday.

I decided I would post about a new artist I was introduced too earlier this year around January or so when he dropped his first mixtape. His name is JoeyG and he hails from New York. His first mixtape "The Golden Days" was qutie amazing for a freshman introduction. He is very much underground and is barely known outside of his ring of friends. He just recently dropped his newest mixtape, "Alterception" and it is also full of great beats and tight lyrics. His vocab and style is very advanced for a beginning artist. I would keep an eye out for JoeyG, he is the future of hip-hop.

Wiz Khalifa in the building.....

I guess this will be a daily blog of all my favorite music. The next Pittsburgh born rapper I have to introduce is definitely in my top 10. Wiz Khalifa has been doing his thing for a minute and been doing it well. I caught wind of him when I heard his Star Power mixtape. Wiz has a very distinct voice but he is a great rapper who understands proper music.

Even though over the past year Wiz has sold out a bit, he still is respected in both the underground world and in the corporate world. He's an overall good rapper and this screenshot of my top 25 songs shows that. It's peppered with Wiz songs including one that i listened to over
760 times.

As mentioned before Wiz has a very close tie to Curren$y and they both even have a mixtape produced together. Like Curren$y, Wiz is always laced in Diamond Supply Co. Wiz also rocks many other stylish retailer brands but usually sticks with Diamond.

p.s. the only reason the David Guetta song is number one is because I listen to that when I work out, on repeat. I'm weird.

What can I say about another repeat artist for this month, excuse me this year. Curren$y goes hard. Plain and simple. Most importantly he hasn't sold out. He's from New Orleans and raps with another favorite of mine, Wiz Khalifa. Mostly rapping about weed and being fresh, Curren$y takes hip-hop to new level with his tight beats and sick lyrics repping the Jets fool.....

His album "Pilot Talk" just dropped about 3-4 months ago and on Nov. 22nd he releases his newest album apptly named "Pilot Talk 2." Recently he announced that will be touring with the first artist I mentioned in my blog, Dom Kennedy. I'm beyond extatic for the shows. Isn't funny how true artists gravitate towards each other?

He doesn't just have ill music but he also has visually-dope music videos. They are all very cleanly produced and mostly revolve around the same premise, cars and weed. What more do rappers need anyway?

One last point I wanted to make is his attire. Curren$y is always laced up in Diamond Supply Co. Not only is he draped in it from head to toe, he raps about it in his music. I can't blame him though because diamond supply co does make some dope duds. Check it out diamondsupplyco.com

Let's kick off this first week with an artist that I have had on repeat for about 3-4 months now, Dom Kennedy. Dom is a SoCal rapper that hasn't blown up. Dom has a style all of his own that has yet to be paralleled and his lyrics leave your pants tight. His flow is very mellow and chill. Dom is one of my top picks for this year. Let's see, being a different individual, I have alot of intrests that are always changing.

The one constant in my life has been music. As a child I would here the ticking of a clock and not see it as an annoyance but as a metronome, if you will. A beat keeper. Had trumpet and guitar lessons starting very young. Grew out of that. Always was into the music playing on the radio when I was in middle and mid way through high school. I grew smart about junior year and decided to expand mu musical vocab. The underground scene in California is massive. New artists every week. I started out with Bay Area hyphy music ( Yes I was into Mac Dre) and realized what I had been lacking for the past 16 years of my life. Real music. This passion for finding new artists and different sounds grew into an obsession. Here I'am now and I'm still exploring everything musical available to me.

Clothes. Style. Not only have my musical areas expanded but I also have opened my eyes and realized a whole world of style is there. Pricey as it may be it is a small one to pay for the boost in self confidence I get. One could say that is shallow but once again, i'm different from you. The Hundreds are a favorite not only for the amazing art on the apparel but because of the message in their clothes and the mission statement. I love what they are about.

Art. Tying in with music and clothes, art is a very large part of life. People these days don't have enough time to stop and comprehend what masterpieces are around us. Whether it be music or a painting, people are too busy moving as fast as possible they cannot see what is in front of them. People piss me off.

I don't know how often this will be updated or if anyone even cares but this is a great place to vent for me and for you to watch the slow progression of my existence on this planet. SImple thing make me happy.
